In 2005, BDA Global established a Community Vulnerability Reduction Fund (CVRF) in order to provide financial seed money for technical assistance to communities affected by disasters across Central America and the Caribbean. The fund, administered by the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) is one way BDA Global shows its commitment to increasing Disaster Preparedness, not only for its private sector and government clients, but also within local communities.
In January 2009, BDA Global’s contributions enabled the American Chamber of Commerce of Honduras’ Disaster Management and Business Continuity committee to leverage the funds needed for electrical repairs from ACEYCO. This is the first phase of a project to provide necessary showers, bathrooms and laundry areas to enable the Valley Agricultural School (Escuela Agricola del Valle) in Monterrey, Honduras to shelter 2,000 people and their farm animals.. The donation is part of a larger effort that BDA is undertaking, in partnership with the Pan-American Development Foundation, to increase the land and food security of communities throughout Central America and the Caribbean. BDA annually contributes a percentage of total net revenue in the region to the Fund in order to provide training, technical assistance, and matching grants awarded to companies and partner communities that show long-term commitment to community vulnerability reduction throughout the region |
